"Buckets of Funding" is a devised opera concert/comedy show discussing the dire state of the arts funding in Australia. Opera singers are forced to choose between their own financial stability and the pursuit of art, as they fight for the small bucket of funding available. Who can say what the right choice is between summer schools, masters programs, competitions, harsh Indie post-modernist opera, one-man ten-tenors tribute shows, traditional operatic programming, and paying your pianists?
We will see the ambitious soprano, the flirtatious mezzo, the overzealous tenor, the old-school baritone, and the very well-paid pianist, as they all embark on a mission to desperately try and secure funding for their projects in a system not built for the arts. We take audiences on a journey through the many ways artists are making do, whilst singing favourites of opera, such as the Flower Duet, Votre Toast, Queen of the Night and the Brindisi chorus.
