Dear Friends of Music Matinee,

It was wonderful to have ANAM perform our last recital and we wish to thank them all for such a varied and stimulating program . As always we thank those who train them and were delighted to have Fabian Russell conduct the brass opening piece. Fabian contributes so much to the Melbourne music scene and his work at ANAM is just one of the many hats he wears and he is passionate about developing young musicians to their fullest potential.

Our next recital will be on Tuesday October 7th at 1.00 at The Scots’ Church Collins st.

We would ask if possible that you be seated by 12.45. Today we welcome students from The Melbourne Conservatorium of Music.

The Dianella Trio consisting of Ben Fu - Piano

                                          Sujie Kim - Violin

                                        Ethan Chiao- Cello

They will begin by playing Anton Arensky Trio in D Minor Op32  1 and 111 Written in the Golden Age Of Russian literature he mixes Russian themes with traditional western classical music much like Tchaikovsky. The Trio was dedicated to the brilliant Russian cellist Davidoff and the third movement serves as an elegy to him.

The second offering is an appropriate Beethoven Sonata for Violin and Piano Op 24 1 called ‘Spring’. As you listen it’s not difficult to see why, as you will hear our spring winds flying around and because it’s Beethoven’s you’ll hear it equally on his beloved piano as well as the violin.

One hundred years later Sergei Rachmaninoff wrote his most loved chamber piece the Cello Concerto Op19 in G Major 111,1V. The third movement is so beautiful we’re sure you will always remember hearing it in this most appropriate setting.

They finish with Brahms Violin Sonata in G Major Op 78 1. This first movement is another exquisite contemplative piece of music to finish a concert containing some of the most beautiful music ever written.

Our thanks in anticipation go to you three young talented people and it’s a concert we will all cherish.

If any of you have comments or suggestions for our recitals we’d love to hear them , if you’re interested in helping in any way please let us know.

We would also like to remind you all of our fundraising musical afternoon at Wesley College on Sunday October 26 at 2.00-5.00 including a scrumptious afternoon tea.
